Buttery Smooth, Buttery Good — The Story Behind the Grip
Not every brand needs a dramatic origin story. Sometimes it's simpler than that: someone fell in love with a sport, got frustrated with mediocre accessories, and decided to do something about it. That's pretty much how Buttery Pickleball came to be — and honestly, we think that's a pretty great reason to start a brand.
Pickleball Deserved Better Gear
When pickleball started exploding in popularity, the accessories market kind of... didn't keep up. Grips were beige and boring. Headbands were an afterthought. The gear you could find felt like it was made for a sport nobody cared about yet. But pickleball players care a lot — about their game, about their community, and about the way they show up on the court. Buttery Pickleball was built to match that energy.
The Name Says It All
"Buttery" isn't just a fun word (though it is a very fun word). It describes exactly what we're going for with every product we make: smooth, effortless, satisfying. A buttery grip feels like an extension of your hand, not an obstacle in front of it. A buttery dink is soft and controlled and lands exactly where you intended. That feeling — that flow state when everything is working — is what we're chasing. And we think better gear helps you get there.
The Grips: Where It Started
Our overgrips are the heart of what we do. We make them in two styles — Soft and Tacky — because players have different preferences, and both are genuinely great options. The Soft grip is cushioned and comfortable for long sessions. The Tacky grip has that slight stick that keeps your paddle planted through power shots and quick resets. And both come in a range of colors, because there's absolutely no reason your grip has to be ugly.

The Headbands: Because Style Is Part of the Game
We partnered with Junk — one of the best headband makers in the game — to bring you a headband that's built to perform and built to look good doing it. The Butter Stick design is bold, recognizable, and has become a bit of a calling card for Buttery players on the court. It keeps sweat out of your eyes, stays in place through the longest games, and starts conversations. That last part isn't required, but it's a nice bonus.
The Community Comes First
At the end of the day, Buttery Pickleball exists because pickleball is genuinely one of the most joyful, social, addictive sports out there — and we want to be a part of that. We're not some faceless corporation shipping out generic equipment. We're players who want you to have a great time on the court, look good doing it, and feel that buttery-smooth connection between your hand and your paddle every single time you play.
